Corporate Identity / logo design

A logo design is a mark which represents your company, it usually encompasses your company name. Corporate Identity is the term used to describe the overall style of a companies communications.

The design of the logo is usually the first step towards establishing the corporate identity. Whether you're a sole trader or a marketing executive for an established corporation, Reactive Graphics can guide and support you in all areas of Corporate Identity.

To demonstrate the level of service we provide please read the following guide which explains how we work. Before we commence with any logo design project we will always ask the client a barrage of questions.

We need to know:

  • what the company does
  • how many people are employed
  • what are the unique selling points
  • who are the main competitors
  • who is the target audience
  • how do you intend on being found
  • what marketing literature will be needed
  • do you have any colour preferences
  • do you have any ideas you would like us try

Is there an existing brand, if so;

  • how well known is the existing identity
  • are there elements of the existing brand which need to remain
  • what do you hope to achieve from the re-brand
  • are there partner companies that have to remain associated

Every job is different therefore the approach to gaining this information varies. Sometimes a five minute telephone conversation is adequate other times it's necessary to gather together the company directors around a board room table. What's important is the designers at Reactive Graphics are experienced enough to know they need to get the correct information from the client in order to answer the client's brief.

How much does it cost?

We allow you the flexibility to set your own budget but we have put together some recommended packages as a guide:

Basic Logo Design
Bronze Logo Design
Silver Logo Design
Gold Logo Design

Basic Logo

Our most basic logo design package allows for 3 hours in total. During the first hour a designer will put together some ideas based on the feedback he receives. The number of ideas created during that first hour depends on the type of logo required, it could roughly vary between 4 to 12. These initial ideas are then submitted back to the client via email in PDF format. The designs are numbered so they can be identified easily. Upon receipt of these ideas the client is asked for feedback. The next hour is used to develop the chosen idea and resubmit it via email until it is approved. Upon approval the chosen logo is saved as various file formats including RGB, CMYK, Spot Colour, High Res, Low Res, Jpeg, mono and outline, this takes the remaining hour but ensures that you have all the necessary formats for future use.

Obviously the creative process is limited when only allowing 3 hours, we offer this package because we realise some people are on very tight budgets when they are starting out and they need something to get them off the ground.

Bronze Logo

The Bronze Logo Design Package follows the same process as the basic logo package but the designer has a total of 8 hours instead of just 3. The designer will normally use the first four hours creating some initial solutions but this does depend on the brief. For instance if the client has absolutely no idea of the direction they intend to take we may produce 4 or 5 completely different styles in the first 2 hours to gauge a reaction. Apart from the last hour that is needed to save the logo in the various formats all the time in between is used to develop the initial solutions. Numbered proofs are sent via email in PDF format, communication and feedback is encouraged throughout.

Various formats delivered on approval include; RGB, CMYK, Spot Colour, High Res, Low Res, Jpeg, mono and outline, this ensures that you have all the necessary formats for future use.

Silver Logo

The Silver Logo Design Package allows for 16 hours of design time, 2 days in total, but usually spread over 4 - 5 days. Having this extra time allows the designers to be a little more experimental, a strong logo that leaves a lasting impression is usually built around a simple clever idea. Therefore the initial time allocated for the Silver Logo Package is spent brainstorming ideas. There is usually more feedback needed from the client for this type of project because an idea is built around the services the company offers.

Having this extra time also allows the designer to explore various areas in more detail, for instance we may present our ideas under category headings e.g. safe, contemporary and wild cards. These headings may change dependent upon the brief.

It is sometimes useful to meet up and discuss the ideas during the first few proof stages, it is not essential but we can sometimes pick up more from a face-to-face than we can from a phone call.

The development stages work much the same as in the previous packages but having more time allows us to develop more solutions. For instance you may like the font of number 7, the colour of number 3 and want to see 3 versions using these elements in the styles of 8,9 and 10! However the sooner we settle on a solution the longer we can spend tweaking it, this is where it helps to be a perfectionist and attention to detail comes into play. The last hour as before is spent saving the logo in all the various formats you will ever need: RGB, CMYK, Spot Colour, High Res, Low Res, Jpeg, mono and outline.

Gold Logo

The Gold Logo Design Package allows for 24 hours of design time and usually takes anywhere between 5 and 10 days. This is the package you need if you are serious about starting off on the right foot and want to be taken seriously from day one. With this amount of design time allocated you can be assured that our designers will produce something that they will be proud of and if a designer is proud that usually means the customer is over the moon.

When designing for the Gold Logo Design Package we take more time to consider the bigger picture. For example even at the ideas stage we will be considering what elements of the ideas could be used to brand the website, stationery, brochures etc. To help with this process we include the design of a stationery pack, letterhead, business card and comp slip. We will normally start applying styles to stationery at the later stages of the project but if we wanted to demonstrate an idea we would do it earlier.

We usually find two face-to-face meetings during the project help with progression but they are not essential and can be carried out over the phone if necessary.

During all Gold Logo Design Packages we generally look at everything in more detail, how your company is run, your target market, your aims, your objectives, your market positioning etc. We find that producing a simple clever solution comes much easier if we fully understand the requirements.

By fully understanding the requirements we can produce ideas which are likely to be more focussed. Ideas for Gold Logo Design Packages are often submitted accompanied with brief explanations. We sometimes feel it helps to briefly explain the origins of the ideas and then explain how they answer the brief. However, not all ideas are explained as we feel this would stifle our creativity, some ideas are explained adequately as loose mock-ups.

During the development stage we have the luxury of exploring several solutions and have the time to work up these solutions as potential finals. As a result you should have a series of very high quality logo's and your main problem may involve choosing between them. We will apply each solution to a letterhead and business card so you can see how elements of the logo are used to help brand the stationery.

Upon choosing your final design we will proceed to improve it by making very subtle changes and tweaks, our attention to detail is second to none and our reputation as perfectionists is at stake!

During the final stage we will produce the logo in various formats for future use and artwork the stationery ready for print. We allow for up to 5 business card names during artworking.

The various formats you will receive include: RGB, CMYK, Spot Colour, High Res, Low Res, Jpeg, mono and outline.

Please note that these packages are meant as guides, if you have a budget in-between these package prices we can work towards it and simply add or remove hours as necessary.

Other elements to consider upon completion of your logo design include:

  • Stationery - letterheads, business cards, compliments slips
  • Case Studies and White Papers (printed or as PDF's for electronic distribution)
  • Branded Quotation Template (branded MS Word template)
  • Branded Invoice Template (branded MS Word template)
  • Presentation Folder
  • Powerpoint Template
